Oddly, my first cat was named Scratch -- that was back in the 1960s, and he died around 1974. He wasn't cute, though. He had a twisted leg that had healed with the head of the femur out of its socket and a frost-bitten tail when he followed me home one winter. We could only guess what he'd been through. He was a rather wild cat, unfortunately, and liked to spend most of his time outdoors. But I have very fond memories of rolling in the uncut grass and weeds of some fields near a creek with Scratch, who always came when I called.
Awww Sometimes the ones that choose us are the best. I had a stray that just decided to be my cat when I was younger. He was such a sweetheart. Always fighting with the other cats around the neighborhood though lol
